Black Owned Clothing Lines You Can Support Right Now

Gucci Blackface Sweater???

You’ve heard about the Gucci boycott, right? If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few days or totally uninterested in the world of fashion here’s a quick recap.

So just a few days into February (Black History Month) Gucci produced and release a sweater that could cover the wearer’s mouth and nose sorta like a mask. The problem? The sweater resembles blackface. Of course, Gucci issued an apology after social media went berserk but we are not believing it. This item not only was produced but was also promoted, no way no one saw a black face resemblance.

Apologies after the fact are just empty words, show us with your actions.

Black Owned Clothing Brands

Blackface seems to be the go-to imagery and staple for luxury brands right now. In December of 2018 Prada was blasted and pulled blackface figurines from their Manhattan stores.

Black Owned Clothing Brands

In 2016 Moncler had a whole blackface collection with jackets, tees and accessories so one can not only proudly display their racism but coordinate it accordingly.

Black Owned Clothing Brands

Let’s not forget H&M and the coolest monkey hoodie.

Black Owned Clothing Brands

Either these companies straight up racist or severely lack diversity and empathy for other races/nationalities. Guys just tell us you don’t want the $2 billion a year we spend on fashion.

Anyway if you are ready to rid yourself Gucci, Prada, Moncler, H&M and any other brand that disrespects you. Here are black-owned fashion brands that would love your support. Keep in mind most brands start off with tees and hoodies as they don’t have tons of money to put into developing different product lines starting out but they all aspire to be more than just tees. Give them a shot.
