Has The Jordan Brand Bit Off More Than It Could Chew?

After going to Long Island’s Roosevelt Field mall for the first time in forever this weekend I noticed something I have not seen since I was a teenager.  You could literally walk in and pick up a pair of Jordans, specifically the Thunder 14’s, the latest release of Air Jordans without a ticket, raffle or any of challenges, hoops or urban behavior sneakerheads and the streetwear face today.

The Jordan Brand has been real aggressive this year with approximately 80 releases between Jan and June  if you include signature shoes for players like Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul.  The brand has put out some serious heat such as the Powder Blue 10’s, Carmine 6’s. Infrared 3’s, Venom X’s and Infrared 6’s to name a few that had me laying in the bed with my credit card and laptop early release morning to trying to add to my collection.

But the question is has the Jordan Brand put out so much heat that the customers have gone broke? At $169 a pair snagging 5 pairs is $845 out of your account and could make one prioritize.  Also, remember there’s still some major releases coming in August like the Wolf Grey 14’s, Sport Blue 3’s and 6’s and the Infrared 6’s dropping on Black Friday so maybe everyone is waiting for these releases.

It will also be interesting to see how the 10-15% increase in 2015 will play out.
